We have found there was tons of declarations throughout discipleship ministries to ‘Go Do’ but really nothing effective on the ‘How To’. When we assessed the state of discipleship in the 21^st century it was clear that men and women (especially men) engaged in any kind of ‘disciple making’ has been in an ineffective continual decline for decades. Statistical data has been providing proof of this problem for years!

There are many effective ‘disciple making programs’ available, yet all of them lack two critical elements…

First, the K.I.S.S. method!

Keep It Simple Stupid. K.I.S.S. originated as a design principle by the U.S. Navy in 1960 and stated that “most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complicated”. Simplicity is any training should be the goal, and unnecessary complexity should be avoided.

Second, the application of ‘How To’ make a disciple maker.

Once again, there are plenty of disciple maker programs out there, but the actual training to effectively replicate the disciple maker within a simplified and easy to follow process is historically highly ineffective, complicated, and lengthy.

Discipleship is nothing new, but the very topic and applications are at best limited! Most all of these ‘programs’ are lengthy and arduous at best. Some taking several months to years before the disciple is ‘qualified’ to become a true disciple maker. They all have the correct content but are missing the two critical elements mentioned above.

The unique and exclusive elements in the Disciple Makers Field Training Manual are the foundational applications of Matthew 28:18-20. Jesus didn’t say “Go therefore and disciple”. Rather, He clearly stated the command “Go therefore and make disciples”. What we actually see as usual practices in churches in these United States today is hundreds if not thousands of ‘discipleship programs’, yet we see an obvious decline of men and women being fully obedient to God’s word and calling. Fact is, there is a measurable decline in Jesus followers claiming victory over sin and worldly confusions due to inefficiencies of mainstream disciple making.

There is plenty of education with no true application. So, if general discipleship and disciple-making programs are truly effective, then the statistics would show an incline of people following Jesus, but the facts illustrate a steady decline that is growing! Men and millennials especially are disengaged or leaving ‘the church’ in record numbers. That’s just the facts.

So why is this? How is it that as important as the Great Commission is and how mainstream you hear of this scripture passage from the pulpit, that most are failing at claiming victory over their secret sin and everyday problems? Just look at failed marriages, abortion, and pornography!

Embracing the Great Commission, Duke teaches churches a disciple-maker one-on-one 12-week process to groups in 6 class sessions. The unique aspects of the course curriculum are targeted specifically for the purpose of equipping anyone to train others on the how-to of disciple making. Classes are made up of mature Christians and Elders, able to tech others.

In a 6-session teaching format over 6 weeks or less, Duke equips everyone with the step-by-step Disciple Makers Field Training Manual in order to develop and train true disciple makers. Who then, in turn, train others to train other Christ Followers to become disciple makers themselves. This is 2 Timothy 2:2 in an actionable and perpetual process that can be easily taught to others with the 6 sessions lasting about 90 minutes for each class session.

Matthew 28:18-20 are the final words from Jesus as he ascended to the Father in heaven. These final instructions are our eternal marching orders, and haven’t changed. The apostle Paul as the patriarch example demonstrated and commanded the formula necessary to train and build believers into the Timothy’s who in turn were instructed to become Paul’s who then train the Timothy’s in a perpetual process that does not end until Jesus calls us home to Him.
